White+Warren Cashmere Ribbed Socks, Editor Tested & Reviewed

Here at T&C, we pride ourselves on our discerning eye for quality. With Tried & True, our editors will give you an inside look at the pieces they simply cannot live without.
I think we can all agree that there are many aspects of winter we could do without: the cold weather, icy sidewalks, shorter days, getting sick all the time… the list goes one. But if winter has one redeeming quality, it’s that it also happens to be cozy season. As much as I can’t tolerate the cold, I love hunkering down at home in all my best cashmere, sipping on my favorite hot cocoa in front of my fireplace. You really can’t beat that feeling.
But when it comes to cashmere, I am very particular about what I wear. I won’t like anything that is the slightest bit scratchy, and the cashmere needs to have the perfect weight: not too thick so I am overheating yet not too thin so I’m still getting chills. One brand that consistently impresses me again and again is none other than White+Warren.
If you’re a dedicated T&C reader, you’ll know by now several members on staff have been White+Warren travel wrap devotees for years. But as I have quickly learned in my tenure as a luxury shopping editor for the last three years, its that White+Warren’s cashmere socks are also worth being obsessed with.
In all honesty, I was never a fan of cashmere socks. All the ones I’ve tried in the past stretched out immediately after first wear, causing the heel area to sit at the back of my ankle. I also found them way too thick. Don’t get me wrong, I do love a thick pair of socks but they also need to be functional enough to wear with shoes. On top of that, even after hand washing or dry-cleaning them, the socks never retained their fresh-out-of-the-box look.
White+Warren’s are a cut above the rest. I’ve been living in mine all winter and the cashmere feels like dream, enveloping my feet in cozy warmth. They’re sit smack dab in the middle of the weight spectrum and are perfect for everyday. I wear them a lot at home, but they’re also designed to be worn with shoes. My toes and the bridge of my feet never feel tight in boots when I am wearing them. The biggest selling point, however, is the fact that the socks maintain their shape and experience minimal pilling even after wearing them with again and again. That’s how you know they’re well-made pair of cashmere socks.
As with all cashmere, the socks are high maintenance and these ones in particular do require dry cleaning. I have three pairs, which means I’m paying visits to my dry cleaner more than usual this season, but that’s a small price to pay for such delightfully-soft socks. My other option is stocking up on more… and hey, what’s wrong with that? Sounds worth it to me.
